First Robotics

The Palos Verdes High School FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) team designs, builds, and programs a new robot every year based on the annual competition challenge released by FIRST. With over 10,000 FRC teams around the world, each season brings a completely new game that requires us to create a ~120-pound robot designed to compete in fast-paced 3-on-3 matches. While building our robot, we gain experience in software, CAD, mechanical design, and hands-on fabrication, all within a collaborative, technical environment that helps prepare us for college and future careers in engineering.

Our team is organized into six main sub-teams: Build, Design, Electrical, Software, Business, and Community Outreach. These sub-teams work together throughout the season to bring the robot to life.

Each spring, FRC competes in 2–3 regional competitions where we aim to qualify for the FRC World Championships, which we previously achieved in 2024. Looking forward, we aim to continue improving and expanding our community outreach program, where we teach elementary school students basic engineering skills and introduce them to robotics.
